Fanfic Two

It's just my idea of how I'd do "Gotham", the television programme about the adolescent Bruce Wayne. The programme misses quite a few opportunities to introduce entirely new characters or have biographies of the family background of established DC universe characters i.e. say The Joker's father. It would be interesting to introduce The Batman as a potential villain, eliminating Gotham's underworld as part of Bruce's need for revenge. But he is redeemed when his methods don't work against powered or supernatural characters or simply by his first meeting with The Man of Steel. My main thought is that Bruce himself becomes a suspect, and is even imprisoned, in the case of his parent's murder. The theory being that the young Bruce Wayne hired the underworld to eliminate his parents so he could take over Wayne Industries, and, perhaps, even the entire city.  The background to this is Bruce suffering three/four years of bat-related nightmares aft...
The @ thetimes gave a list of 30 books that summed up modern Britain , none of which were SF, fantasy or horror. One book that sorely sums up Britain is "The Buried Giant" by Kazuo Ishiguro. I also nominate- "Consider Phlebas" (Iain M.Banks), "Halting State" (Charles Stross), "V For Vendetta" and "From Hell" (Alan Moore) and "The Lord of the Rings" (JRR Tolkien).

(I'm) Not Paranoid

(I'm) just thinking out loud. There is an odd connection with the recent Skripal family case in Salisbury and the UFO phenomenon. The official statement concerning how the ex-spy and his daughter were poisoned alleges the two came into contact with a chemical agent painted on the doorknob of their house. They both touched the doorknob before going out to an Italian restaurant and then collapsed, as if in an intoxicated state, on a nearby park bench. This all connects to a an episode of "Unsolved Mysteries" I recently watched. A sceptical Virginian radio journalist who reported on a local UFO flap in his local town received several very strange visits and phone calls. Some of which were threatening in nature, including a visit from the legendary "Men in Black", but the strangest were two contacts with the US Department of Defence. The first claimed the UFOs were simply aircraft refuelling while the second seemed to contradict this statement as military aircra...

Syrian Truthers

Regarding the White Helmets alleged affilitation/association with al-Quaida "elements" in Syria... Why is it a Truther position? The CIA gave us crack cocaine and the knowledge that aliens have ginger hair covering their pubises. Does anyone trust these people? It is clear the US wants Assad overthrown and will support almost anyone who is against him. It is telling that this accusation isn't mentioned at all in the mainstream media and that the same media still talks about a mainstream opposition-while our government and others have criminalised people joining Kurdish forces, so clearly the Kurds don't constitute a "moderate opposition". The line that the White Helmets are aligned with jihadists has been a consistent one and there has been no evidence to suggest otherwise. The Times and other mainstream news will always unquestioningly quote Spiked if they print something they agree with . Obviously they will only question a source if it print...
