Picard-era Fan Fiction

A riposte to "Discovery" methinks-but the "new Star Trek TV show" should have been set in the Picard/Next Generation Era. It would, overall, have a very similar plot. Multiple flashbacks to the Federation-Klingon conflict in Kirk's time would occur as several characters would be veterans of that conflict. The plot concerns a Romulan invasion of the Federation after their home-world was destroyed in Star Trek by a supernova. It is basically a revenge plot by Romulan survivors. There is also the issue of what the joint Federation-Klingon occupation of Cardassia turns into. I want to introduce the idea that many long-term Federation planets were members in name only, having joined the Federation only to become trapped in or "behind" various Neutral Zones. We can explore these "new" races with the crew of our star ship.
Fan theories and Conclusions based on Star Trek: Discovery. 1. Harry Mudd is Q "Mon Capitan!". Because he has access to 4D aliens, presumably he may himself be one! 2. The spore drive was used in the Original Series, perhaps unbeknownst to the crew, to explore Alternative Earths. 3. Trill was once part of the Klingon Empire. Update 28.3.2019 4. The Vulcans never genetically modified the Terrans after World War Three. Hence their aversion to bright lights ("space vampires"). 5. Applauding a new captain or bowing to the emperor is a form of "continuing election" in the Terran Empire. They are a "lawless democracy". 6. However, individual (nation and planetary) states do still exist*, so long as they do not denounce the empire. A crewman who murders their captain may still be prosecuted under their laws. 7. The Terran's version of "legal murder" was adopted from the Mirror Klingon Empire. *i.e. Vulcan, Andor, Betazed...

Spock's Grandson The female Romulan commander from The Enterprise Incident is Simon Tarses' grandmother.   Simon Tarses was an apparently half-Vulcan technician aboard the Enterprise-D who comes under suspicion in The Drumhead  when his real Romulan ancestry is exposed. Obviously, Spock and the Romulan had a brief affair when he was her prisoner aboard the Romulan ship. The result was a pregnancy. The child of three planets was born in a Federation prison and, presumably, adopted by a Martian (human) couple. This child had a son who joined Starfleet.

The Gzilt Prophet Briper Drodj and (Tursensa) Ngaroe (Hgan) "oldest person in the Culture" QiRia (dam Yutton)* are actually the same person. Because.... why the fuck not? The Werpesh actually evolved on Earth. Because.... w hy the fuck not?   This means that (probably) all the humanoid species in the Culture novels are descended from those Werpesh who opted out of Subliming. Any technology left behind was quickly appropriated by other civilisations.  Most members of the-150 member-United Federation of Planets are planets colonised by the thirty or so actual members, these being the home-worlds of the various Federation species. This-kind of-explains why everyone aboard Federation star-ships looks human. Obvious fan theory: R2-D2 is a Culture (Special Circumstances) agent. Second obvious fan theory: Homer Simpson is an Idiran. *of the Buhdren Federalty, one of the civilisations which founded the Culture "...

The Klingon empire..... .......almost joined the Federation but left as a result of a military coup which ended their brief experiment with democracy. Planets conquered by the Klingons either joined the Federation or became part of the Klingon Neutral Zone .  The series "Humans" and "Space: Above and Beyond" are set in the Star Trek universe. The AI War was later referred to as "world war three" and was an attempt by the Synths to increase their number. The Klingons are really Augments, genetically modified humans who left Earth during the Eugenics War. These Augments conquered a number of planets and created the Klingon empire. Elements of the conquered culture's religions ended up becoming adopted by the Klingons.  Vulcan Intelligence deliberately started the  Earth-Romulan_War .  This was done by providing Earth with Vulcan technology. When Earth ships started exploring and setting up outposts near the Romulan border, the Romulans attacked ...

Q both created and manipulated the Borg. They/He did this in order to prevent the version of the Federation in the Mirror Mirror  universe from coming to power. Without the Borg , the events of Star Trek:First Contact  would never have happened and the United Federation of Planets would become the Terran Empire. The Borg also made an alliance between long-time Federation adversaries the Romulan Star Empire. This allowed the Borg to invade Federation space by passing through Romulan space (the first time round) and is the reason for the Enterprise-E being ordered to the Romulan border  in  Star Trek:First Contact . Elder Romulan politicians and officers who opposed the alliance were ousted (and probably assimilated) in a coup, allowing ambitious officers like Sela to come to the fore. It makes a weird kind of sense for the Romulans to ally with the Borg, if only to keep the Federation on its toes. This means t...

Star Trek's  Data had a field commission before attending Starfleet Academy. This website points out that    Data  joined Starfleet shortly (2341 CE) after being rescued but was still at the academy in 2378*. If both dates** are correct then perhaps Data didn't become a officer until 2278 because he joined as an enlisted man. At some point either he was required to serve on the bridge or as part of an away team. Both require an officer's commission to participate so I would imagine that Data was given a field commission by his commanding officer (the captain of the Trieste?) in order to do so. To be promoted further Data then had to attend the academy. It is possible that Miles  O'Brien went through the same process but that he declined academy attendance in order to take the position of Transporter Chief on the USS Enterprise-D. On closer inspection I appear to be wearing loafers. *The first series of Star Trek: The Next Generation a...

Fan Theories Five

Wolf 359 Despite having thousands of starships, losing "only " thirty-nine at the Battle of Wolf 359 seems to have been a big loss to Starfleet. I can only think of two reasons why this is the case. The first Starfleet is referring to a "medieval" thirty-nine ships, where "one ship" refers to twenty (as in one knight refers to twenty mounted warriors). In this case Starfleet would have lost 780 ships, out of a possible total of 3400 to 7000. The second Starfleet only has around forty to fifty state-of-the-art  frontline starships. Therefore, losing thirty-nine to the Borg is a great loss of lives, materiel and morale. The whole fleet is as large as estimated but mostly consists of much older, relatively outdated vessels. The fleet as a whole consists of: Science vessels Courier ships Freighters Cargo vessels Survey ships and  Transports

Fan Theories Three

William Riker is a twenty-fourth century holder of The Darkness. The  Darkness is passed on when the next holder is conceived. This also causes the current  Darkness to die. The theory assumes that Q is-or could be-a manifestation of Riker's powers Riker  only has sex with aliens. Riker apparently also is a Q, as he has their powers. He also has a difficult relationship with his father (although if my theory is correct Kyle Riker must be a foster father or a manifestation of his powers) It could be explained that Riker avoids relationships with human women being The Darkness due to the risk of pregnancy.  So he makes sure only to have relationships with alien women.... ....................................................................................................and holodeck characters.

Vulcan sex

Vulcan Sex: A Fan-Fic-Theory First Contact is set eleven-ish years after a supposed third world war. The reasons for World War Three are not given and there is no real evidence to suggest that the conflict was actually fought with nuclear weapons. Certainly, if it was it seems incredibly doubtful that there would still be any one left alive by the time of Zeframe Cochrane's first warp flight. All we can go on is Riker's statistic of 600 million casualties and Data's estimate of the date by the proportion of radioactive particles in the atmosphere. Perhaps the war sterilised most of the population but contact with aliens was soon enough so that said aliens (the Vulcans) could provide inoculations against the long-term effects of radiation? I would even go further and suggest that the Vulcans indulged in large-scale genetic engineering of the human population. The result being that humans could also breed with members of other humanoid species.  It...

Kirk, Picard, Borg

Bit of fan fiction in my answer: say Starfleet resurrect Kirk when Picard goes AWOL in a personal crusade to finally destroy the Borg. The Trek novel "The Return" had Kirk destroying the Borg by switching their on/off switch to "off". The novel was, as it happens, written by Shatner as a sequel to "Generations", allowing Kirk to be resurrected so that he could have a much more meaningful death. But Paramount made "First Contact" instead", which to be fair had the whole "Picard is Ahab" thing and was definitely one of the better post-Shatner Trek films, but the Borg were only thwarted not finally defeated. I think a combination of the two stories would have worked much better, with picard going AWOL in an attempt to destroy the Borg once and for all. Starfleet illegally resurrects Kirk to send him to stop Picard's attempt at genocide.
